The standout Southeast Asian restaurant that I’ve visited lately was Pho Tai Long on Prairie just north of Marine Avenue. This is the widest array of Vietnamese food I’ve found outside of Little Saigon in Orange County, and everything I’ve tried has been fantastic – crispy whole fish with an exuberant ginger sauce, robustly spicy chicken with lemongrass, and a marvelous lemon-beef salad have been only a few of the memorable items. The English comprehension of some of the servers leaves a bit to be desired, but the owner is fluent and is happy to recommend items. The prices are very reasonable, so you can pack up a carload of adventurous friends for a memorable night out and still not spend much.
